Remove VeriSign as the .COM and .NET registry!
Why Recall the Registry from VeriSign?
** To stop VeriSign from abusing its position as the exclusive provider of .com and .net services.
** To support ICANN in its defense of the lawsuit filed against it by VeriSign.
** To provide stability to the Internet and protect it from unregulated abuse.

Turbo10 Search Engine - Search the Deep Net -- London-based search engine allows a searcher to access 1000 databases and search engines. The deep Internet, or "hidden Web," is often characterized as the part of an iceberg that is below the ocean surface, whereas most search engines index only the easily visible, but relatively small, web content. Turbo10's meta search is regarded as a potential competitor to Google dominance.

support.microsoft.com - You may experience problems or you may receive error messages when you install IntelliType Pro 5.0 or IntelliPoint 5.0 software. If you use IntelliPoint 5.0 software on Windows XP Home or Pro, the mouse's scroll wheel and customized button assignments may not work. You might also find that the entire PC crashes about 10 minutes after being restarted. This affects at least the wireless versions of Microsoft's IntelliMouse Explorer, Optical Mouse, and Wheel Mouse.
Microsoft says this is caused by Terminal Services not being enabled on Windows XP. You could turn on Terminal Services, but if you don't have a need for this program, I recommend you leave it turned off.
A better solution is to install an IntelliPoint software update, which Microsoft re-released as recently as February 04. If you use that Microsoft's IntelliType Pro 5.0, it has a related problem that also requires an update to its software.

BlackSun Software : Freeware Tools: "X-Fonter covers all the bases when fonts are concerned. The main functionality of this program is to manage your fonts (install, uninstall, load, unload, compare, preview). X-Fonter supports all font types (TrueType, OpenType, Postscript Type 1, Raster, Vector). You can create your own color schemes and use your own preview text. There's a character map included for both ASCII and Unicode, so you can easily find out how a specific character looks, or whether that specific character is included in a font. Additionally, it also allows you to make 3D graphics that you can use for your webpages, emails and much more... The image editor includes some nice effects, like shadows, gradient colors, outlines and blurring.
The free version is fully functional for Truetype/Opentype fonts."

Both SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are quality freeware, are regularly updated and have active support forums. They should be on every PC. Users of Acrobat Reader are all too familiar with how long this product takes to load. With the release of V6, it's become agonizing. A lot of the delay comes from loading plug-ins, most of which have no value to the average user. You can bypass the loading of plug-ins by holding down the when the Reader starts. The difference in load time is amazing. If you want to permanently disable the plugs-in from loading just move them to another folder - full instructions:
Here's how to do it:
* Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader
* Create a new folder called plug_ins_disabled.
* Move all files from the plug_ins folder to the plug_ins_disabled folder
except EWH32.api, printme.api, and search.api.
There should only be these 3 files in the plug_ins folder.
*You're done.

Nonviral threats were the number one reason consumers called Dell's tech support last year, said Maureen Cushman, one of three primary legal contacts for Dell's consumer business segment. 'They represented 12 percent of all tech support,' she said. 'Data shows that spyware calls are longer and require much more troubleshooting. Usually the complaint is that the computer is performing slowly. This slowness is often perceived as a hardware problem, which hurts our brand.'"

One of the first things you probably noticed when you installed Windows XP is the Shared Documents folder. The idea behind this is a great one. A place to store documents, music, pictures, etc. that is available to anyone who uses the computer. Definitely a simple and easy way to share your data. However, we all have our preferences and some people don't like this feature of Windows XP. So, you can fine tune XP to meet your own preferences by permanently removing the Shared Documents folder. Doing so does require editing the registry, so use the steps with some level of caution.
Open your registry editor and navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
Software\MicrosoftWindows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\My Computer\
Namespace\DelegateFolders
Locate
{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}
subkey and delete it.
Upon doing so, you will have successfully removed
the Shared Documents folder from your computer.
